Grip Fitting Instructions

Instructions:  One Piece, Block

1.

Remove the grips from your gun and drive out the roll pin at the bottom of the frame (if any).

2.

Test fit the grip panels to the backstrap; then sand and file the areas at the top and top/front of the new grips in order to get a good fit all the way around.

3.

Clean up the block from any flash left.  Make sure it fits properly into the rear bottom of the backstrap.  IMPORTANT!!  Make sure it clears any springs and webbing in the backstrap.

4.

Put a thin coat of Vaseline on all metal surfaces on the backstrap.  Mix up some 15 minute epoxy glue or JB Quick and apply to one of the surfaces on the block and install one of the grip panels.  Apply epoxy glue to the other side of the block and mount the other grip panel.  Secure the grip panels with rubber bands until the glue has set and hardened (recommended time is 30 minutes).

5.

Remove rubber bands; then remove the backstrap and grip.

6.

Clean off the Vaseline from the gun and reinstall the grips.

Instructions:  Two Piece, Screw

1.

Remove the grips from your gun and drive out the roll pin at the bottom of the frame.

2.

Test fit grip panels to backstrap; then sand and file the areas at the top and top/front of the new grips in order to get a good fit all the way around.

3.

Drill a lineup hole in the grip panels using the existing hole in the frame (where the roll pin used to be) as a guide.

4

Decide where to put the escutcheon.  Use the old grip as a guide (or you may want to relocate the hole so it comes out in a particular place in carved grips.)  IMPORTANT!!  Make sure you clear any springs and webbing in the back strap.

5.

Drill a 1/8" hole in one grip panel then put both panels together and drill the other panel using the first grip panel as a guide.

6.

Drill a 1/4" hole on the outside of the grip panel to the desired depth for your escutcheon using your 1/8" hole as a guide.

7.

Use a small amount of glue to install the escutcheons.

8.

Install the grips on your gun.
